PLANNING/ZONING BOARD
The City of Graham Planning/Zoning Board is a seven member advisory Board to the City Council on matters relating to land use planning and development. Five of the seven members are appointed by the City Council while two members are from Graham’s Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) and are appointed by the Alamance County Board of Commissioners. Members serve five year staggered terms. Regular meetings of the Planning/Zoning Board are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 201 South Main Street.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
The Board of Adjustment hears requests for variances and appeals on zoning and development related matters. Like the Planning/Zoning Board, five of the seven Board of Adjustment Members are appointed by the City Council, while two members from Graham’s Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) are appointed by the Alamance County Board of Commissioners. All members serve three year staggered terms. The Board of Adjustment also has two alternate members to serve in the event of a vacancy or absence of a regular member.

RECREATION COMMISSION
The Recreation Commission is composed of seven members who are appointed by the City Council. Membership of the commission consists of six residents of the City and one member of the City Council. Commission members serve three year terms, except that the City Council Member’s term is concurrent with his/her term of office. The Recreation Commission seeks to promote recreation for the citizens of Graham and assist other agencies with recreational interests and needs.

TREE BOARD
The City of Graham Tree Board serves as an advisory board to the City council as it relates to the planting, growth and protection of trees within the City. Members of the Tree Board are also members of the Appearance Commission and each serve three year terms.

GRAHAM HISTORICAL MUSEUM BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Graham Historical Museum, located at 135 W. Elm Street, collects, preserves, displays and interprets the records, relics and artifacts which contribute to the understanding and appreciation of the history of the City of Graham. Through its Board of Directors, the museum enhances public awareness of local, county, and national history and their relationship to the citizens of Graham. Members of the seven member board are appointed by the Graham City Council and each serve one year terms.

APPEARANCE COMMISSION
The City of Graham Appearance Commission is an advisory board appointed by the City Council. The Commission is charged with promoting, planning, advising and encouraging the citizens of Graham to participate in providing for an appreciation of aesthetic values. Appearance Commission Members serve four year terms.

GRAHAM SPORTS HALL OF FAME SELECTION COMMITTEE
Recognizing and perpetuating the noteworthy athletic tradition of the Graham community by honoring and memorializing individuals and/or organizations that have made outstanding contributions is the guiding principle of the Graham Sports Hall of Fame and its Selection Committee. Members of the Selection Committee serve three year terms.

HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
The nine member Historic District Commission is charged with the duties of promoting, enhancing, and preserving the character of the Downtown Historic District. The Historic District Commission also administers the annual Downtown Façade Grant Program. All Commission members are appointed by the City Council.
