Equipment Operator II
Department of Public Works - Street Division
Starting Salary – $30,478.45
An employee in this class works as a member of a maintenance crew or leads a maintenance crew. This position works under general supervision of the supervisor. This employee is primarily a skilled equipment operator. Manual Maintenance and construction tasks required. Work requires special skill and care around traffic areas. Responsibilities include the safe operation of equipment which may include motorgraders, crawlers, backhoes, leaf trucks, loaders, bulldozers, flatbed trailers, boring machines, rodding machines, flusher trucks, pick-up trucks, dump truck, rollers, tamps and other equipment and tools. Position requires thorough knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, ability to perform strenuous work for extended periods of time, skill in operation of large specialized equipment and tools. Work in this position is very heavy work. Position requires a North Carolina Class C Driver License and completion of high school or equivalent.
