Historic Resources Commission

The seven member Historic Resources Commission is charged with promoting, enhancing, and preserving the character of historic districts and landmarks, including the Courthouse Square Historic District. To that end, the HRC administers the annual Façade Grant Program. The HRC also reviews and decides upon Certificates of Appropriateness for exterior alterations, construction or demolition in any historic district or landmark. All Commission members are appointed by the City Council. Regular meetings of the HRC are held quarterly – in January, April, July and October – on the second Tuesday at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 201 South Main Street. Additional meetings are called as needed on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm.
