Public Notice – Closing of NC-HWY 54


North Marshall Street in Graham will be closed, weather permitting, from Monday, February 15, 2016 through Monday, February 29, 2016 between Albright Avenue and East Elm Street. Near the end of the project NC HIGHWAY 54 WILL BE CLOSED in Graham between North Melville Street and North Main Street for approximately one day between Monday, February 15, 2016 and Monday, February 29, 2016 weather permitting.

The City of Graham is replacing a sanitary sewer line within North Marshall Street. North Marshall Street will be closed during the entire Sanitary Sewer Replacement project. Weather permitting, the project is expected to last less than 2 weeks. Local traffic can access businesses and residents in the area, but the City asks that cars not park on North Marshall Street between NC Highway 54 and Market Street during the project to allow the contractor to complete the work as quickly as possible. The City of Graham invites anyone who visits the area to park in the municipal parking lot off of North Marshall Street. Motorists wishing to use North Marshall Street will use East Elm Street, North Main Street, and Albright Avenue for the 0.40 mile local detour route. The local detour can be viewed at

NC Highway 54 will be closed for approximately 24 hours during the project to allow for replacement of a sanitary sewer line connection within the street. NC Highway 54 will not be closed during normal weekday business hours but may be closed overnight during the project or during a weekend during the project. Motorists on NC HWY 54 travelling through the area will use East Elm Street and North Main Street (NC HWY 87) during the sanitary sewer connection as the signed 0.50 mile detour route.
