What is a Better Block?

A Better Block is a temporary installation to re-imagine public spaces and improve public health by providing crosswalks, bike lanes, bump-outs, pop-up parks, and public art.

Community leaders from Graham, Mebane, Green Level, and the Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) joined forces to develop a proposal for a mobile trailer of materials to help bring communities vision to life. As a result, these partner agencies were awarded a grant from Impact Alamance worth over $25,000.

This innovative placemaking project dovetails with the mission of Impact Alamance, part of the Cone Health Network, which aims to strategically invest in our community for hope, health, and prosperity. More specifically the Better Block project is aimed at helping members of the Alamance Wellness Collaborative achieve their goal to increase access to active transportation and trails in Alamance County.

The Better Block is a way for neighbors to get involved and provide feedback on how well (or poorly) the City is doing in their neighborhood. Want to invite Better Block to your neighborhood? Please contact us to find out more about scheduling an event today!
