Important Coronavirus (COVID–19) Facility & Program Updates

Facilities & Program Updates as of 09/02/2020:

Graham-Mebane Lake –
• On piers and bank fishing areas, please do your part and stay 6 feet apart.
• Space is limited in fishing areas and picnic areas.
• The restrooms are open for use. Doors are locked, ask lake staff for a key. Restrooms will be cleaned every 2 hours during these times as a COVID-19 precaution. Use at your own risk.
• All vessel rentals and the Tackle Loaner Program have been postponed until further notice.

Athletics – We will be utilizing a class format rather than traditional league play to allow us more flexibility in delivering a safe and effective program. Please visit Youth Athletics for details.
Childcare for Remote Learning – Please visit our website for details or to register. Space is limited. When children cannot socially distance, masks are required for all students.
Graham Historical Museum – CLOSED, planning for reopening soon
Graham Recreation Center (including Gym & Weight & Fitness Room)  – CLOSED until further notice due to Childcare for Remote Learning use and for the health and safety of the participants
Movies in the Park – CANCELLED for 2020
Open-Air Shelter Rentals – CANCELLED until further notice. 
Park Restrooms – OPEN
Playgrounds – will OPEN Friday, September 4 at 5:00pm. Visitors to playgrounds are encouraged to wear face coverings over the nose and mouth, use hand sanitizer or wash hands before & after use, and maintain social distancing from people outside of their households. Playgrounds will be disinfected once a day. Use at your own risk.
Volleyball & Basketball Courts – CLOSED, are planned to OPEN following playgrounds (hoops and nets need to be installed)

Mass Gathering Limits for Phase 2.5: 25 for inside spaces and 50 for outside spaces

The City of Graham’s top priority is the health and safety of our community. In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 the following measures are currently in place until further notice:
 
Parks – OPEN sunrise till sunset, excluding Graham Regional Park. Graham Regional Park will be closed until further notice due to the large area to close, including the youth challenge course, zip line, and playground features.
 

If you are planning to head out to a park, here are a few reminders on best practices for social distancing while visiting:

  • Do not use parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms of sickness.
  • Follow CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to visiting parks or trails.
  • While on walking tracks, please walk/run one-way, counterclockwise.
  • Observe CDC’s minimum recommended physical distancing of 6′ from other persons at all times.
  • Go by yourself or those you live with.
  • Avoid crowded areas. If a space cannot be enjoyed safely, go home or discover a new park in your community.

Facilities & Program Updates as of 04/13/2020:
 
Due to the uncertainty of Summer Day Camp and dates of camp due to COVID-19, registration has been suspended until further notice.
 
Summer Day Camp is not cancelled at this time. If adjustments are made to the camp, families will be contacted to transfer weeks or for possible refunds.

Facilities & Program Updates as of 03/27/2020:
 
All Graham Recreation athletic events remain indefinitely suspended while we combat COVID-19 locally and nationally. That being said, it is our earnest intent to resume all spring athletic programming – soccer, lacrosse, golf, baseball, softball, and t-ball – as soon as we are safely able to do so. Our current target date to resume activities is May 16th. Please understand that our target date may require extension as more safety recommendations are likely to materialize over the next several weeks.
 
Facilities & Program Updates as of 03/25/2020:
 
The Graham-Mebane Lake Bass Tournament scheduled for 03/28/2020 has been cancelled. Please call the lake office if you have any questions at (919) 563-6544.
 
All park bathrooms are closed effective immediately.
 
Facilities & Program Updates as of 03/23/2020, effective immediately:
 
All playgrounds, basketball courts, and tennis courts within our system are now closed until further notice to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
 
Parks within our system will maintain normal operating hours: sunrise till sunset, excluding Graham Regional Park. Graham Regional Park will be closed until further notice due to the large area to close, including the youth challenge course, zip line, and playground features.
 
We encourage you to stay home at this time, however if you decide to visit a park, lets each do our part to use them in a way that respects each other and public health guidance. Park staff have increased their cleaning and disinfecting routines at all facilities during this time.
 
Here are a number of specific recommendations for advising the public to keep safe social distancing when in parks or on trails from the National Recreation and Park Association:
 
• Follow CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to heading to trails — wash hands, carry hand sanitizer, do not use trails if you have symptoms, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, etc.
• Observe at all times CDC’s minimum recommended social distancing of six feet from other people. Practice it and know what it looks like. Keep it as you walk, bike or hike.
• Bring water or drinks — public drinking fountains may be disabled and should not be used, even if operable.
• Bring a suitable trash bag. Leave no trash, take everything out to protect park workers.
 
Facilities & Program Updates as of 03/16/2020 at 3:30pm:
 
Graham Recreation Center will modify operational hours to Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm, closed weekends. All ongoing programs have been cancelled until further notice. The facility will be open for administrative purposes only.
 
Maple Street Center & Civic Center programs have been cancelled until further notice.
 
Center & Open-Air Shelter rentals have been cancelled for the months of April & May. We will not be taking any new rentals for these months. Current rentals are being notified.
 
Graham Historical Museum will be closed until further notice.
 
Recreation Commission & Graham Historical Museum Advisory Board meetings have been cancelled.
 
The Cottontail Crawl scheduled for 04/09/2020 has been cancelled. If you have purchased tickets, you will be issued a full refund and we appreciate your understanding.

The City of Graham’s top priority is the health and safety of our community. As of Friday, March 13 at 5:00pm, the City of Graham suspended all Recreation & Parks Department organized activities, including athletic practices, until further notice.
