9/11 Commemorative 5K Event Training Program

Graham Recreation & Parks invites you to “Run Your First 5K,” an 8-week beginner-friendly training program designed to help participants safely progress from little or no running experience to completing a 5K (3.1 miles). Through structured workouts, group runs, educational resources, and consistent encouragement, participants will build endurance, improve overall fitness, and gain confidence in reaching a personal health goal.

Open to adults ages 18 and older of all fitness levels, the program welcomes walkers and first-time runners alike. Participants will receive guidance on proper training techniques, injury prevention, pacing, stretching, nutrition, and race-day preparation.

The program concludes with participation in Graham Recreation & Parks’ annual 9/11 Commemorative 5K Event, offering a meaningful goal and an opportunity to celebrate personal achievement and progress. Beyond fitness, “Run Your First 5K” encourages healthy lifestyles, community connection, and long-term engagement in walking and running activities.
