In December 2019 the Graham Police Department requested the assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation. The request was to have them investigate potential allegations that a sitting city council member, Lee Kimrey, had abused his power as a city council member by having the city clear a residential lot that his construction company owned. That investigation has been completed and per the District Attorney that investigation yielded insufficient evidence to support criminal prosecution.
