Norfolk Southern is conducting rail infrastructure improvement work along the North Carolina Railroad corridor in our community as part of ongoing efforts to enhance rail safety and long-term system reliability from Greensboro to Graham. Pre-construction work is currently underway to prepare the rail corridor for rail replacement, which is planned to start in early fall.
Temporary road closures will be required at affected rail crossings. The crossings affected in our area include:
• Washington Street
• Pomeroy Street
• Stone Street (State Route 1935)
Norfolk Southern will coordinate road closures with NCDOT. Please use caution near work zones and follow posted detours and traffic guidance.
