Due to an expected winter storm that may cause dangerous travel conditions and power outages, the City of Graham has declared a State of Emergency effective January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. This action follows a statewide State of Emergency declared by North Carolina Governor Josh Stein.
The State of Emergency allows city officials to take steps needed to protect public safety and respond quickly to storm-related impacts. City officials may restrict access to certain areas if necessary, and residents are strongly encouraged to stay off the roads whenever possible.
City crews will focus first on clearing city streets. Residents are asked not to place storm debris in roadways. Debris removal will begin as soon as conditions allow. Guidance on proper debris placement will be posted on the City’s website.
The State of Emergency will remain in effect until further notice.
