Poems can be submitted by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or dropped off at Alamance Arts, Graham Recreation Center, and City Hall beginning March 1 and will be due no later than March 31. Young poets are asked to turn on their creativity and “write a poem about a tree(s)”.
Participants must live in Alamance County and include the poet’s name and grade, parent/guardian’s name, phone number, email, and city on the back of the submission, and if they are available to attend the Arbor Day in Graham’s Tree Planting Ceremony (04/28), attendance is not required. One submission per person is allowed. The City of Graham Appearance Commission & Tree Board will choose the three winners at their April meeting (04/03) and winner will be recognized at the Arbor Day in Graham’s Tree Planting Ceremony (04/28) with the opportunity to read their poem. Winners will receive recognition on social media and a special certificate from the City of Graham.
