Youth Soccer
Volunteer Coaches are needed for the 2023 Spring Soccer Program: Coaches for Spring Soccer are volunteers (usually a parent of a player on their respective teams). The City of Graham does not provide coaches. Volunteer coaches need to be 18 years of age or older (if ages 15-17, please email our Athletics Supervisor and have confirmation from the legal guardian, either with a letter, email, or phone call. Youth volunteer coaches serve as assistant coaches and will not have their own team.) If you wish to volunteer to coach, sign up through CommunityPass or contact the Athletic Supervisor at (336) 570-6718 or by email.
Spring Youth Soccer
2023 Spring Youth Soccer Registration: December 1, 2022 – February 1, 2023
If this is your child’s first time playing sports with us, please submit your child’s birth certificate. You can bring a copy to the Graham Recreation Center (311 College Street), email a copy to our Youth Athletics Supervisor, or submit online.
Ages: 4 – 12 (boys & girls; all teams are co-rec) (ages updated 01/25/2023)
5U Biddy: 4 – 5
6U Beginner Pee Wee: 6
8U Pee Wee: 7 – 8
12U Mites: 9 – 12 (ages updated 01/25/2023)
The age cut-off is January 1 of the season year.
Fee: $25 (Graham Residents), $40 (General Public)
Location: The majority of practices will take place at Bill Cooke Park or at Johnson Avenue Field.
Description of League: The City of Graham Soccer program is designed to teach players the fundamentals of the game while also providing a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience. The Soccer program aims to provide an opportunity for all participants to learn the sport and develop life skills which also creates a lasting love of the game.
At the end of the season players should have an increased understanding and development of the following Soccer skills:
- Dribbling
- Passing
- Receiving
- Shooting
- Spacing and Transition
Equipment Provided: The City of Graham will provide soccer balls and whistles to each team. Coaches are encouraged to seek sponsors that could supply jerseys, although the City of Graham can provide jerseys if necessary.
Equipment Needed: Players will be required to wear cleats and shin guards.
Practices: Practices will begin the week of February 16. The practice schedule will be finalized and sent to parents/guardians once registration ends and team rosters are created. Practices will only take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays.
Game Schedules: Games will begin in March.
