The City of Graham will begin removing elements from Sesquicentennial Park at 2 N.W. Court Square on Tuesday, May 26. Work will be performed by our Public Works crew.
What to expect in the area
The sidewalk and parking bays in front of the park will be closed while work is underway. Please plan ahead if you park or travel through that block.
Memorial bricks
Memorial bricks will be the first things removed. Each brick will be placed in a single layer on a pallet. When a pallet is full, it will be photographed so the city has a clear record of which bricks are where. All bricks will be stored by the City of Graham.
If you purchased a brick and would like it returned, here is how to request it:
1. Contact City Hall to submit a request.
2. Fill out a short form. The form must be notarized. Notaries will be available on-site.
3. The city will schedule a pickup time with you.
Because brick purchases were not tied to recorded ownership, the notarized form protects everyone if a dispute arises.
No final decision has been made on the future of the park site or how the grant funds will be used. Council will deliberate this matter once this phase of work is complete.
